Nat’l Organic Program revokes organic dried fruit exporter to U.S. market

CERES revoked two Uzbek ops recently

The USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP) reported Monday it has revoked two organic operations from the Central Asian nation of Uzbekistan.

Both operations had been certified organic by Germany’s Certification of Environmental Standards GmbH (CERES), which revoked their organic certificates effective Sept. 28.

One is LLC Sunny Fruit Production, founded in 2009, and based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The company is a major producer and exporter of dried fruits and nuts to the EU, U.S., Russian and Chinese markets.

A request for information on why its organic certificate was revoked was not immediately returned.

The NOP has revoked 13 organic operations so far in 2019, compared to 14 revocations during the same period last year.
