Organic beef producer’s new deal could be a slam dunk

Dakota Beef teams up with the Houston Rockets

Organic beef producer Dakota Beef LLC said Thursday it is partnering with the Toyota Center, home of the Houston Rockets, to sell its beef products at all home games.

The Howard, S.D.-based processor is supplying certified organic hot dogs, hamburgers and upscale steaks to their Lexus Lounge, Red & White Wine Bistro, Silestone Rockets East and West Clubs and all luxury suites at the Toyota Center.

This marks the first time Toyota Center has offered customers certified-organic beef products and it is the first ever branded beef program at the arena.

“We always pride ourselves on serving the finest quality products to Rockets fans and Toyota Center event attendees. Dakota Beef products certainly meet that criteria and we look forward to working with Dakota Beef to enhance their sales and visibility throughout the Houston market and surrounding community," said Greg Elliott, Houston Rockets vice president of corporate development and broadcasting.

Dakota is the largest producer of exclusively certified organic beef in the country. All its cattle are born and raised on certified organic pasture throughout the Midwest.

H-E-B Central Market, a subsidiary of H.E. Butt Grocery Co., started selling in October Dakota’s new line of certified organic all-beef hot dogs at its specialty stores in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

The partnership will expand Dakota’s existing organic beef sales at H-E-B stores throughout southern Texas, and help the company grow “dramatically throughout the region, which is clearly one of our largest markets."

San Antonio-based H-E-B operates a chain of retail grocery stores in 150 communities in Texas and Mexico.
