Popular non-GMO label to roll out interim guidelines, policies amid Covid-19 pandemic

Non-GMO Project says interim guidelines aimed at supporting Product Verification Program participants 'during this unpredictable time'

The Non-GMO Project (NGP) said it has formed a Covid-19 task force to assess and mitigate impacts to its Product Verification Program (PVP).

Bellingham, Wash.-based NGP’s Product Verification Program is a third-party verification and labeling program. The nonprofit’s popular “Butterfly” seal is the fastest growing label in the natural products industry, representing more than $26 billion in annual sales, and more than 50,000 verified products under 3,000 brands.

NGP said it will be publishing interim guidelines and policies to its Technical Administrators next week in order to support companies participating in the PVP “in navigating product verification during this unpredictable time.”

NGP’s four Technical Administrators include: NSF International, Where Food Comes From, Inc., SCS Global Services, and FoodChain ID.
