U.S. retailers push 21x more conventional milk ads than organic

Latest USDA organic dairy report shows organic milk ads fell 63% for week

There are over 21 times more conventional dairy ads than organic dairy ads in the nation’s supermarket circulars for the week ending Feb. 13, the USDA report said.

Organic milk ads fell 63 percent for the week, while the weighted average advertised price for organic milk half gallons is $4.04, compared to $2.96 for conventional milk half gallons, according to the report.

The weighted average price for organic 8-ounce cheese shred has an average price of $3.50, compared to $2.25 forĀ conventional 8-ounce shred cheese.

The weighted average advertised price for organic Greek yogurt in 4- to 6-ounce containers is $1.25, even with last week and $0.25 more expensive than conventional Greek yogurt in 4- to 6-ounce containers. Organic yogurt ads declined 57 percent for the week ending Feb. 13.
