Wild Oats gets TV exposure in hybrid SUV ads

Campaign appeals to hybrid users and their quest for sustainable, natural lifestyle

The fresh-faced shopper in her yoga togs pulls up in front of Wild Oats, giving her golden retriever a pat before running in for a few natural and organic groceries.

But it’s not a commercial for the store – it’s for the Mercury Mariner hybrid compact SUV she’s driving.

Unlike many traditional car ads that appeal to our need for speed, Mercury partnered with Boulder- based Wild Oats Markets for a national campaign that aims to draw in hybrid buyers with appeals to their yen for a sustainable, natural lifestyle.

"This is part of our strategy to connect more with the lifestyle of the hybrid buyer," Ford spokeswoman Kim Irwin told the Rocky Mountain News.

The commercials began running nationally in May and are slated to continue to the end of the year.
